Meet Ace the Pilot Whale (SeaWorld Orlando)

Name: Ace

Species: Short-Finned Pilot Whale

Gender: male

Offspring: none so far

Parents: Both were wild pilot whales

Rescue Date: September 1, 2012

Transfers: Ace, along with Ava, Piper, and other pilot whales, stranded on Avalon Beach, Florida. Though many of the beached dolphins died, Ava, Ace, and Piper were rescued and sent to Harbor Branch Institute that very day, and four days later, on September 5, 2012, the three were transferred to SeaWorld Orlando. Other than this, their only transfer so far has been from the park's Dolphin Stadium to the Shamu Up Close Underwater Viewing tank.

Location at the Park: Shamu Up Close Underwater Viewing Tank

Identification Tips: Ace is the easiest pilot whale to identify at SeaWorld Orlando. The top of his dorsal fin has been barely clipped off.
