A blog dedicated to the dolphins in Florida, both wild and captive. I also blog at ExploreFloridaWaters.com, but I just need a extra little space all to itself to share about my number one favorite Florida water inhabitant, the dolphins and other cetaceans
"Have Patience"
A young dolphin in the Halls River is attempting to copy his mother and other pod members, who are encircling fish in a “net” of mud. The young dolphin locates a school of fish, swims around them, beating his tail against the muddy river bottom, and creating plumes of mud around the school. He then lifts his head above the surface, just like the adult dolphins do, waiting for the fish to jump out of his “net.” However, nothing happens. The fact is, he encircled a school of Bluegill, which, unlike the mullet that his pod usually “nets,” are not as prone to leaping out of the water. He doesn’t understand what went wrong. He must have patience, and keep practicing the technique if he is to eventually succeed.
